Tiger Woods' Recent Surgery

Fans were thrilled when Tiger Woods competed and won the U.S. Open. He competed in the tournament against doctor’s orders. He has his third surgery in 14 years in April. It was arthroscopic surgery to remove cartilage from his left knee. Tiger experienced a benign tumor in his left knee in 1994. He recovered from that surgery rather quickly. Through the years, Tiger Woods has been the No. 1 ranked golfer. He has a very competitive spirit, which has helped him become number one.

Two days after Tiger Woods won the U.S. Open, he surprised many people by having his fourth knee surgery. This time he had surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Dr. Thomas Rosenberg and Dr. Vernon Cooley performed this surgery. They see no ill effects from the surgery. They have said that with rehabilitation and proper training, Tiger Woods should suffer no adverse effects on his playing ability. Tiger looks forward to the necessary rehabilitation and training. Tiger Woods has thanked all of the people who wished him well. He is looking toward the future and playing golf again very soon.

With the support of his family and friends Tiger Woods is looking forward to competing in and winning more of the tournaments that he is famous for. He has a very competitive nature and thrives to win. He will also require rehabilitation for a stress fracture in his left tibia. It is noted that he received this stress fracture by intense rehabilitation before the US Open. Once he goes through the rehabilitation Tiger Woods will be ready to play golf again with the same force that he is known for playing with.

Tiger Woods' Recent Surgery

Tiger Woods recently had knee surgery because of an Acl tear which resulted in him having to undergo reconstructive surgery in 2003. But in some ways it was a good idea and in other ways it was a bad idea. Some doctors believe that since Tiger Woods decided to get the knee surgery he has developed his risk of knee osteoarthritis. By doing this some consider Tiger Woods is setting himself up for debilitating arthritis in the future. Any way people look at it, it was a must for Tiger Woods to get this surgery as with any profession because if you don't you wont be able to continue playing your sport at an elite level. For Tiger Woods it was probably his best decision because foregoing his surgery he will be teaching his muscles to perform at the level that he once performed at.

Luckily, Tiger Woods surgery didn't lead to something more serious because Acl ruptures can also be accompanied by meniscus tears. But during the surgery surgeons will be able to repair any upcoming meniscus tear or even clean out some of the pieces that occur before the surgery. But this is not Tiger Woods' first time undergoing surgery as he has had problems with his knee 5 years before his last initial surgery.

After all this, being one of the greatest golfers in PGA Tour history, Tiger Woods has put the surgery all behind him and he hopes to continue his dominance and unstoppable force to power his way through the Tour for years to come.

PGA Tour Today

The PGA Tour this week find itself in New Orleans for the "Zurich Classic of New Orleans." Andres Romero of Argentina, the winner of this tournament in 2008, is looking to defend his title. Another player that will be present this week is Kenny Perry, after his devastating loss at the Masters. He went to the 17th hole with a two shot advantage and ended up losing to Angel Cabrera in a playoff. However, this week it's back to work for Kenny Perry as he tries to put that all behind him.

Another player we need to watch for this week is Nick Watney. He was the winner of the Zurich Classic in 2007, and already a winner in 2009 as the champion of the Buick Invitational. With nine starts this season, he has eight top 25 finishes. He currently ranks fourth in the FedEx cup standings. Players say that a longer player off the tee has a better chance of winning at the TPC of New Orleans. With a field of 152 players this week, we have someone who is making his debut on the PGA Tour. It is 18 year old Danny Lee. He missed the cut at the Masters in Augusta, which was the first major that he ever played in. Many are waiting to see how he will do next.

The month of April is "PGA Free Fitting and trade up month." This is where professional golfers around the country offer 15 minutes to any golfer at any level. They try to fit you with the right equipment. You can also trade your old clubs for new ones at a much lower price.

The PGA Zurich Classic Golf Tournament

At the PGA Zurich Classic golf tournament in Avondale, Louisiana, on the manicured Pete Dye Design golf course, the 42 year old Wisconsin man, Jerry Kelly, had a great day Sunday. He rallied on the back nine and his ball rolled that 2 feet for his 13 par. He finished with a 1- under 71, the best for he day. He won the 2009 Classic Golf Tournament. He finally won his first PGA tour since the Sony Open and the Advil Open in 2002. “It’s been a long time,” Kelly said.

After Jerry Kelly’s bogeys on the 8 and 10, Charles Howell's birdie on the 11 put him ahead by 2 strokes. Then he had bogeys on the 15 and 17 that left him with a 68. Birdies on the 11 and the 14 gave Jerry Kelly a 1- under for a 71. Charles Howell had a 68, which meant he shared second with Rory Sabbatini (67) and Charlie Wi (68). Playing with Jerry Kelly was Steve Marino. He stayed within one shot of Jerry till the 18th hole. Then his shot went into a fairway bunker which took 2 puts to get out of. That bogey gave him a round of 70.

After a week of visiting New Orleans restaurants and golf, Jerry Kelly walked away with 1.1 million dollars, the largest payday he has ever received, with exemption status till 2011. He also received offers from the Masters, World Golf Championships, and the Mercedes-Benz Championship.
