Justin Leonard Wins Second Playoff Hole TO Win The Stanford St. Jude Championship

MEMPHIS Tenn. Boo Weekley shot a 5 under 65 to takethe first round lead at the Sanford St. Jude Championship. He was one stroke ahead of Tommy Armor III after birding the 18. Tommy was tied for the lead untill he bogeyed the 16th hole. ViJay Sing shot a 67. Sergio Garcia and Davis Love III were in a group ofseven players at 68.

High winds on Friday made for a six way logjam at the top of the leader board, Tommy Armor IIIdouble bogeyed No 18 and ended up in a six way tie along with Gavin Cole 64,low round of the day, Dean Wilson 68, Justin Dufner 68 Michel Bradley 68 and Marc Turnesa69, for a three under 137. That was the hightest two day total since last year. ViJay WSing finnished with a 71 and was tied with AlexCejka 69 Mickel Letzig 68 and Davis Love III at 138 one stroke back. Boo Weekley had a rough day on the front nine and ended up with a 75 for a 140 total.

On Saturday Tim clark broke trhe logjam at the top with a bogryfree round of 6 under 64, He had three birdies and an eagle on his final five holes. He ended up with a 205 arter three rounds. Clark will play with Trevor Immelman who shot a 67 for a 207,two strokes of the lead. He was tied with four other players ViJay Sing 70, Justin Leonard 67, Stephen Ames68 and Dean Wilson 71 were at 208 three shots back.

On Sunday Justin Leonard had a chance to win when his second shot landed 13 feet from the cup, his put just missed to the left of the hole. Immelman birdied the last three holes, on 18 he made a 23 foot birdie put that put him into the playoffs with Leonard and Robert Allenby. Leonards birdied the second playoff hole when he made a 19 foot birdie put that just made it to the hole. Immelman missed a birdie put from 11 feet and that gave the win to Leonard, it was his 19 win on the PGA tour. Sergio Garcia 66, Padraig Harrington 68, Boo Weekley 68 and Alex Cejka 70 all tied for fourth three under.
