Play Better Golf

Golfers never forget that the condition of their body is a big part of playing better golf because they need the flexibility and endurance on the golf course.  The game of golf can be broken down into two pieces, your long game and your short game.  The long game is viewed from the tee up to the fringes of the green.  The short game is viewed from the fringes (80 foot perimeter) of the green up to the hole.

A golfer needs the ability to walk long distances without becoming fatigued and the best way to become fit is to walk several times a week at a brisk pace to build your lung capacity and leg strength.  A golfer needs to be flexible from the neck down to the legs, so stretching exercises are important.  Weight lifting strengthens the upper body and gives you more power behind your swings.

Improve your long game with this suggestion.  When you hit your first shot off the tee, pick a spot on the fairway and aim toward that spot.  Do not take your mind off that spot until you have cleanly finished your tee shot.  Practice will bring you closer to those spots around the course.

Go to the practice green and place a golf ball a few feet from the practice hole.  Using your putter, push the ball forward without taking a back swing.  Do this over several times as your aim improves, then you can begin to putt with your full swing just as if you were putting out on the course.
