Improving your Short Game

The short game is where people tend to take most of their shots but it is something that most tend to practice on the least. The short game can be classified as any shot from 100 yards to a yard or two off the green. Two of the major problems with most golfers short games is either they hit a chunker that goes absolutely nowhere or they skull the ball hitting it across the green. Neither one is ideal when it comes to a golfers short game. This is sometimes caused because people tend to hit the ball up or hit the ground first.

The question then becomes how is it possible to accelerate but have control over the short shot without hitting it to far? It really boils down to what is your perception or definition of a short swing. Many golfers are used to big booming swings where you bring the golf club back near your neck. With this thinking many will then think a short shot can be achieved by bringing the club back at your waist. This will still result in a ball going further than it ought to in your short game. Hitting up at a golf ball will always result in bad chipping.

To improve your short game it will take practice. It requires a golfer to get to know their clubs. Which club will hit for what distance. The best advice for improving this game is practice, practice, practice and then practice some more.
