Tiger Woods has just competed in the U.S. Open Golf Tournament and won in an astounding 91 holes, five days straight, winning against Rocco Mediate. It was an outstanding showing by Tiger although he was in pain due to his knee condition. He has had surgery on his knee in 1994, 2002 and this year. It has definitely been a hard battle but one in which he determinedly succeeded.
Tiger Woods operation on his knee was a major ACL surgery. He has been playing for 10 or 12 years with problems with his knee and so has lived with the pain for quite some time. He did not let this stop him from competing and winning the U.S. Open. Now he is taking time for the rest of the season to rest his knee. The doctors have said he needed complete rest to heal the ligament.
We can all learn from Tiger's determination and his drive to complete the U.S. Open. Tiger shows us that golf is his passion, and as such, he gives the game his all-out effort. At the same time Tiger sets a good example for young and old golfers alike. In the decision to refrain from competing for the rest of this season, Tiger demonstrates his realistic attitude toward his condition and the game of golf. Because of his need for recouperation, Tiger acts in his bests interests to rest and heal as the doctors have recommended. This level-headed quality Tiger has shows his ability to make good judgment.
