Tiger Woods Surgery Forces Him on Vacation

Tiger Woods injury has forced him to be on vacation after having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday. This was his second operation in five years on the same knee.

It is likely he will miss The Players Championship but should return to play the U.S. Open in Torrey Pines golf tournament. Woods also suffered a double stress fracture of his left tibia while preparing for the PGA Tour last month. He had arthroscopic surgery last April to clean out cartilage in his left knee but he made a decision to hold off until after the Masters for this recent surgery. After playing 91 holes a year for his 14th year as a major career golfer it has made it impossible to play any longer.

One of the biggest challenges with Tiger Woods surgery is to get him to slow down. Now he is forced to if he wants to play anymore this season; Woods is notorious for pushing himself. Now he is forced to listen to the doctors. There is no way to rush recovery with this type of surgery and he may be out as long as 6 months.

Orthopedic Surgeons prognosis for Tiger Woods injury and return to Championship next year say his long-term durability is in doubt. Woods does, however, have a natural ability and athletic talent. With his determination and competitive character his chances are excellent he will be back playing golf tournaments sooner than the average patient of such surgery. The doubt comes in as to how he will hold up over the next five to ten years.
