Familar Name Heads 2008 LPGA's Money List

Looking at the 2008 LPGA's leaders on the money list, a familiar name is at the top again. Lorena Ochoa, is heading down the stretch here in the 2008 golf season on the top of the money list. So far this year Lorena Ochoa has earned over $2 million and there are still a few tournaments left. Annika Sorenstam is in second place with over $1.5 million and the up and coming star, Paula Creamer, is third with just under $1.5 million. If Ochoa finishes strong it will be her second year in a row.

Lorena Ochoa is the number one ranked golfer in the world. Ochoa took the number one ranking away from Annika Sorenstam in April of 2007. Since then she has done nothing but strive on the golf course. In 2007, Ochoa won her first major championship at the Old Course at St. Andrews in the women's British Open. Ochoa won the event by four shots, in which she then turned around and won her next two events, the Canadian Open and the Safeway Classic.

Lorena Ochoa is the first Mexican woman golfer, and has the distinction of being ranked as the number one woman golfer in the world. Ochoa is considered to be the best female golfer to ever come out of Mexico. Lorena Ochoa's earnings in 2007 ($4,364,994) broke the single season earnings record of $2,863,904 set by Annika Sorenstam and if she finishes with a couple of wins this season she could possibly match or better her previous seasons earnings.
