Karrie Webb

Karrie Webb was born on December 21, 1974, in Australia. Now, Karrie, at the age of 34, is a world famous female golfer. She got her love for the game from her parents and grandparents. She would be out with them at the age of four with her toy clubs. At the age of eight, her parents bought her the first golf clubs, and she won her first trophy, called the “Encouragement Award.” She didn't know until she was older that she had actually come in last place.

That gave her enough encouragement to begin golfing. She asked Kelvin Haller, a golfer there, to teach her. He had Karrie and his two nephews begin to hit balls in a empty parking lot. Karrie knew at the age of twelve that she wanted to become a golfer. With Kelvin by her side, she has become a major force on the golf course. She turned pro in 1994, at the age of twenty. In 1996, she was the first woman player to earn more than one million in a single season, and she was the first rookie on the LPGA or PGA tour to win more than a million.

Haller is still her coach, and, because he is paralyzed, she has her caddie uses multiple digital cameras to take videos from two different angles. Then, she sends them to Haller, who looks at her swings, and lets her know what he thinks of them. She goes back home every year so she can be coached by him in person.
