Carol Mann

Carol Mann started playing golf regularly as an early teenager and turned professional in 1960 at 19 years of age. She played competitively for over twenty years, with an impressive professional record of thirty-eight tournament wins. She won two majors in her early years, to include the Women’s Western Open and the U.S. Open. She finished in the top ten nine times on the LPGA tour and continued to put up best scoring averages during her years on the tour. Her career low round was 65. She continues to rank 11th on the LPGA all-time victory list, although she has been retired 27 years.

While playing on the LPGA tour, Carol Mann served as its President and continually sought out sponsorship and promotion for the tour. She later became the president of the Women’s Sports Foundation and a teacher to other top professionals. She has also started a company which provides corporate golf programs and consulting on golf related product development. In her post playing years, she has worked as a television analyst and author.

Although many remember her due to her height of 6 foot 3, she has been the recipient of many honors to include being inducted in the International Women’s Sports Hall of Fame. She won the Vare Trophy while on tour to signify her low scoring average and was inducted into the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame. She has been listed in the Top 100 Golf Heroes of our time and recently she received the First Lady of Golf Honor.
