Juli Inkster was born in California on June 24, 1960. She attended high school and college in California and was an All American for three years in college where she also won the title of Athlete of the Year. While in high school, she would practice every day before and after school at the local golf course. In order to get more practice times and other things the course offered, she obtained a job working at the golf course.
In 1983, Inkster joined the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the next year she won two majors, and became the first LPGA rookie to win two titles. Because of this she was named Rookie of the Year. Her career went well until 1993 when she hit a slump. She was trying to juggle a young family and career at that time. Then in 1997, her career did a turnaround. In 1999, she achieved what had been her lifelong goal by winning the Women's U.S. Open. To top it off, a few weeks later she also won the LPGA tournament. Her dream has come true twice because she again won the U.S. Women's Open in 2002.
She has played on the U.S. Solheim Cup for seven years but not once did she finish at the top. Inkster has played and won games against the likes of Nancy Lopez, Betsy King and Pat Bradley. Juli has won the Sportswoman of the Year from the Women's Sports Foundation. In 2000, she was also inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
