Lee Trevino Pro Golfer

Lee Trevino was born in Dallas Texas on December 1 1939. He left school to become a caddy at the age of 14 at the Dallas Athletic club. After work he would hit over 300 golf balls. When he was 17 he joined the Marine Corps.,after his discharge he became club pro in ElPaso Texas.

He joined the PGA tour in 1967, he won $26,476 and was named rookie of the year. In his second year on tour he won the U. S. Open Championship.

In 1971 and 1972 he won ten times both years. He won the U. S. Open in an 18 hole playoff with Jack Nicklaus. He then won the Canadian Open and the the Open Championship becoming the first player to win all three in the same year. He was named ABC's Wild World of Sports Athlete of the year along with Sports Illustrated sportsman of the year.

He was struck by lightning in 1975 at the Western Open and suffered a back injury, it bothered him the rest of his career. He still finished second in the world gol rankings in 1980 behind Tom Watson.

He won 29 times on tour and 20 times in international play. He was instrumental in getting the Senior Tour started where he also won 29 times 4 of them being majors.

Hunter Mahan Wins The Waste Managrmrnt Phoenix Open.

Hunter Mahan came from 4 strokes back to win the tournament at 16 under 268. On the par 5 13 he hit his second shot to 7' from the cup and made an eagle to get to -14. His birdie put on the 14 gave him the lead after Y A Yang found the water on the 17 hole and dropped back a stroke to -14. Hunter birdied the notorious 16 hole that is surrounded by bleachers to get to 16 under. That was his second win on the tour with his first coming 3 years ago in 2007.

He bear Rickie Fowler by one stroke. Fowler got a birdie on the 14 hole to get him to -15. He layed up on the 15 hole and ended up with a par. On the 16 hole his birdie put stooped at the edge of the cup. on the 18 hole he had a good drive and his second shot landed on the green but he was not able to get his birdie. He is only 21 and that was his second runner up finish in his young career.

YA Yang finished in third place with a -14 270. He had a eagle at the 10 hole and then made 4 more birdies to get to -15 to take the lead for a while.

Mathew Coggin, Charles Howell III and Chris Crouch tied for fourth 2 strokes back.

Camilo Villegas was near the leader until he had three boogies starting at the 10 hole.

Fred Couples and Tom Lehman were in a large group at 10 under and Phil Michelson was in a large group another stroke back.


1st Round Of The Waste Management Phonix Open

Camilo Villagas took the first round lead with a 9 under 62 to tie the tournament record with 2 other players. Camilo started play on the back nine and on his last hole, the 9 he chipped in from 21' for his 9 birdie of the day. He played a boogie free round. He holds a one stroke lead over Matt Every who got into the tournament by winning last years Nationwide Tour Championship that gave him his tour card for this year. Matt had 6 straight birdies starting at the 17 hole. They played in the morning when their was very little wind. There were ten boogie free rounds played.

Their are 5 players at 6 under Rick Fowler a rookie on tour this year that had a solid round and if he should go on to win he would be the youngest player to win the tournament. Justin Rose is also in this group he had boogies on his first and last holes but still shot a 65. Pat Perez also had a 65 playing with new irons and a new putter. Mark Wilson and Ryuji Imada are also tied with them.

Their are 11 players at 5 under lead by Tom Lehman and Geoff Ogilvy. Fred Couples is in a large group at 4 under and Phil Mickelson is in another group 3 back.


Kyle Busch Racecar Driver.

Kyle started racing in 2001 in the truck series at the age of 16, but NASCAR changed the rules and said that you had to be 18 years old to drive in one of their top series.

Kyle came back three years later, when he came back he won his first race in the Busch Series at the Richmond International Raceway. Later that year he won his first sprint cup race At Fontana driving for Rick Hendrick. Kyle was also the rookie of the year in 2005.

In 2008 Racing for Joe Gibbs he won at the Alanta Motor Speedway giving Toyota their first win in the series.
